World Cup 2018: Luka Modric Wins Golden Ball


 The 2018 world cup was a monthlong celebration of fun football with unexpected results. The tournament which is now officially over after France beat Croatia 4-2 in final.
 Modric, the Croatia midfielder 'did the lion share to the play' as he heads home with the addidas Golden Ball award.

 "I'm proud of that, I would  like to thank all my team-mates, because without their help I would certainly not have received this award," said the midfielder.
 The 32-year-old who scored Croatia's opener against Nigeria and again against Argentina in the group stage also said; "we were so close to winning the world cup itself, and we certainly think about it for a long time. When you see this support of the fans after the match, it definitely makes you happier. We know we did something big here. But when you come so close, it is not easy to take."
Luka Modric was also consoled by Croatia president Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic after receiving the award by Russia president as the rain poured down in Moscow.




  Belgium captain Eden Hazard was giving the silver Ball as the second-best player of the tournament.
 While Antoine Griezmann finished the the third Bronze Ball and Thibaut Courtois won the Golden Glove as the best goalkeeper in the tournament.
 England striker Harry Kane won the Golden Boot.
